Kaspar Studies with BG

Hi everybody,

I am back from Portugal and now I will start to do more cartoon studies.
I began drawing these poses below. I started with the ones that had the explanation about the construction, than I jumped for the ones that you had already drawn (so I could read the critiques that mr. John K gave) and at last I drew the ones that nobody had tried. It was preatty hard and I think that it still have a lot of the same problems that mr. John K pointed already... but I also think that I am improving little by little... I will keep practicing.
After I finished the constructions I applied them in the background as you can see in the next image.
I use the photoshop to apply the images and also to make some small corrections on the proportions so it would fit in the BG... I don't know if it is the right way... but it kind of worked.

I can tell that it is not perfect and the drawings could be funnier (SHAME again)... but I really think that the next ones are going to came better... I will try not to take very long until the next post.

abraço

  1. the construction is pretty good

you are losing negative spaces here and there, making some poses hard to read and toning down the expressions and poses a bit

  2. Those are looking really good you are capturing his expressions well and are maintaining the essence of the original sketches, which I still find really hard to grasp. I think you need to add a bit more fur texture on some and make sure that that peach shape on his body is more asymmetrical. But you are doing a great job, almost there!

    Cheers,

I think some are a little tone down in the expression, it's very hard mantain the guts of the drawings

  4. it is true, a lot of the negative spaces were lost... specially in the first one.. his arm is too small, I checked the dawings againg and found lots of this mistake.
I will work more professor, thanks for the adivice.
Thank you Becky, I was afraid to add the fur and lose the solid structure, but I think you are right, I need start to work on this as well...
Paul, I am dreaming with the day that I will not tone down these drawings... work, work, work... there is no other way.

    grande abraço :)
