Kaspar-Becky

This is my first time drawing Kaspar. I decided that before I drew him based off of John's sketches that I should probably draw the cover first.

Here are some of the things that I noticed as I was drawing him. His eyes are very organic and his pupils are as well. He has Popeye forearms and tufts of fur at bends at areas such as the shoulder and tummy. His chin touches his stomach. His fingers all point in different directions, they look pretty broken, also each finger nail is of a different shape and size. The peach on his stomach and face follows his form and folds and even if flattened would be an organic shape.

I drew his line of action first, it was hard since he's hunched over only slightly. The main mistakes that I made were, his eyes are too far apart, his lips don't accentuate enough and smoothed out edges too much and his feet are all wrong.

Here is the first one based off sketches. His head isn't big enough and he is leaning too far right and looks very off balance. I did what John suggested and made the character's expression myself as I was drawing it which helped. I should probably get a hand mirror as well. I went too crazy with the details. All and all this one could be a lot better and I plan on redrawing that pose in the future to try to get it right.

I was MUCH happier with this one. Even though I didn't stick with the model as much I tried to stick closer to John's sketch. Since he's meant to be very cute here I decided to simplify him a bit and wanted to try to see what he would look like with bear paws. I also added some fur texture onto him.

Here is the last one, I also like how he came out, not as much as the previous one though. I gave him the bear feet again and made the expression myself which helped. I can't decided if his arms should be further away from his body, or right against it and you can see the hesitation in the drawing.

I will draw Kaspar some more this week and also redraw the character sheet.
