Model sheets, etc

Here are a few recent entries into the ol' brown sketchbook. The next few days will be devoted to layout studies, but have some characters in the meantime.
^I didn't measure the box to correct proportions so everything in the frame was squashed a bit to compensate.

^a few mickeys copied from my cell phone screen. He is fun to draw.

^jerries copied from the model sheet

^some "original" poses :p these look all flat and bad to me, any critiques/suggestions?

It's so awesome to see the great work being posted. It is intimidating and motivating at the same time. It seems impossible to catch up when you know that the original artists were producing dozens and hundreds and thousands of drawings over days and weeks and months. There don't seem to be enough hours in the day!

  1. Nice tree truck feel in the first one.

I want to have a crack at some Jerries, I doubt I'll do as well as this.

  2. I like the line of actions you have in your Jerry poses. You should pay more attention to the head sizes, they seem inconsistient. Also your jerry feet are too small and the ankles taper too far inward. Also make ears bigger and lower set. I noticed that the little flick in the inside of his ear tends to align with the bridge of his nose.

I was working on a jerry pose similar to the one you have on the top left, but it looked like crap so I'm gonna try to do it over later. I've been having a lot of fun with this.

  3. thanks for pointing out those inaccuracies, A.M. I will do some more keeping your critique in mind.

Chloe, I'll bet your Jerries will be great :)

  4. You have some lingering wonkiness that you have to work on

look at overall shapes, not just individual lines

Mickey's legs-and where they come out of his shorts legs-the directions should agree

    hands more solid

top of Mickey's head when he is looking down- you should see the top-the black part
