I hesitate to put these up as exercises, but at some point I will need you to be able to draw my characters.

These human characters obey some of the cartoon principles - mainly construction, but a bit less line of action, because they are more solid and meaty - less rubbery than funny animal cartoon characters.

These characters also have more details and anatomy which makes them hard to control. But if you use construction ad hierarchy, it simplifies the process. Worry about the details last and get the big forms working first.

These drawings actually have some mistakes in them-particularly in contradictory perspective, but they are subtle mistakes.
Tip: Keep wrinkles and details small- don't let them stick out too much and distract from the major shapes.
Wow, I feel like my Dad just gave me the keys to his car.
ReplyDeleteOh, and this is one of my all-time favorite episodes.
