I did some more scenes from the porky and charlie cartoon, I just kinda paused and screen grabbed some frames I liked. I get all confused on the distance between the two characters, even when I try to think it with negative space, since they're kinda far I think.
So I have been drawing a lot of trees and came up with some designs that I like, but I have been having trouble applying them to an actual background and rendering them digitally. I did these two backgrounds but they look really bland to me. I didn't get a chance to use my most interesting tree ideas either.
So I went back and copied a couple more backgrounds, one from Donald's diary and the other one is from the Yogi bear scooter looter I think. I figure that if I keep doing these, eventually I'll figure it out. Oh, unlike the other BG practices I've been doing, I did these in 300 dpi instead of 72, since I wanted to work harder on getting the textures more accurate.
Porky drawings are very good
ReplyDeleteCopies of Lozzi paintings and Donald's Diary are very good, although maybe a bit washed out
Drawings of trees in your own paintings:
Kind of wobbly, not very solid, and tending to be falling over
I want to feel the trunks of the trees, the branches and the clumps of foliage
they seem to be melting - as if they are made of 2 dimensional negative shapes alone, instead of 3 dimensional strong positive forms
again - a tricky balance. Positive forms - but composed using negative spaces is the goal.
colors- too primary and not as rich and harmonious as the Lozzi's
But....still impressive overall
especially your work ethic!
Thanks,
ReplyDeleteback to the drawing board, I'm gonna work on some more trees now.
A.M., I love your posts. I don't have that trained an eye, so I'm just speechless when I see your work. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am practicing but I am in a place with no scaner..
ReplyDeleteA.M. your studies are very nice to see.
I love the twisty palms, the composition on the bridge BG and the colors for the last tree one, good work!!!
